There is a spot on your counter — beside the sink, on the desk, at the end of the day — where you put the things you keep close.

This vessel holds that spot.

Hand-carved from natural onyx by artisans in Balochistan, Pakistan, it arrives with the weight and cool of something geological. Warm saffron and burnt sienna swirl through translucent cream stone — markings formed over millions of years, finished by hand in our San Diego studio. No polish, no synthetic treatment. The stone is exactly what it is.

Place a tealight inside and it glows like the last hour of afternoon light. Use it to hold your pens, your brushes, your kitchen tools, or simply let it remain. Every piece is unrepeatable. The variation you see is the variation of the earth.

Shezal Babar founded SAÉA because she believed the objects you live with every day should carry the same weight as the ones you'd never part with.

— the origin

carved from a single stone.

Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.

We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.
